Events of interest to suicide grievers...

For several years, SOS, Inc. has cooperated with the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), in holding an annual Fall conference for suicide grievers and others concerned with with suicide and suicide loss. The session is scheduled for National Suicide Survivors Day on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in November.
Previously, we also worked together to hold a Spring conference, exclusively focused on suicide loss issues. This session took place on a Saturday during Suicide Awareness Week in May. It was discontinued after a few years.
SOS, Inc. supports AFSP's Out of the Darkness Community Walk which promotes awareness of suicide prevention and postvention.
SOS, Inc.'s principal event is an annual Candle Light Memorial held in September during National Suicide Prevention Week in Rose Tree Park in Upper Providence, PA. It attracts 200-300 people and features many activities promoting support and greater understanding of suicide loss. Info will be posted when the event is scheduled.
